Privacy Policy

Effective: March 23, 2026

Short version: We do not track you. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties. Your learning data stays on your devices and in your private iCloud.

What Data We Collect

Chido Guey collects only what's necessary to make the app work across your devices:

Learning progress — lessons completed, streak counts, vocabulary review records, and spaced repetition scheduling data. Stored locally on your device.
Apple User ID — an opaque identifier from Sign in with Apple, used to link your progress across devices. We never see your Apple ID credentials.
Display name and email — only if you choose to share them during Sign in with Apple. Both are optional; you can sign in without sharing either.
App preferences — audio playback speed, selected theme, and similar settings. Stored locally on your device.

How Your Data Syncs

Your learning progress syncs automatically across your devices via Apple's CloudKit private database. This sync uses the same Apple ID account linked to your iCloud. We never have access to your Apple ID credentials or your iCloud data directly. CloudKit sync is end-to-end encrypted and managed entirely by Apple.

Sync only happens when your devices are online. The app works fully offline and no internet connection is required to use any feature.

What We Do NOT Do

No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
No advertising, no ad networks, no tracking SDKs
No data shared with third parties
No data sold, ever
No crash reporting services (crashes are reported via Apple's standard crash reporter, which you control in iOS/macOS Settings)

This app does not track you across other apps or websites.

Data Linked to You

Per Apple's App Store privacy nutrition labels, the following data is linked to your identity via CloudKit:

Usage Data — lesson progress and streak counts (synced via your private CloudKit database)
Identifiers — Apple User ID (opaque identifier from Sign in with Apple)
Contact Info — email address, only if you choose to share it during Sign in with Apple

Sign in with Apple is optional. You can use Chido Guey without signing in. Your data will still be saved locally on your device, just not synced across devices.

Deleting Your Data

Local data: Delete the app from your device to remove all locally stored data.
iCloud data: Go to Settings › [Your Name] › iCloud › Manage Storage › Chido Guey to delete your synced data from iCloud.

Third-Party Services

Chido Guey uses no third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. All functionality is built entirely on Apple's native frameworks.

Children

This app contains mature language content and is not intended for children.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. We won't make changes that reduce your privacy without providing notice.
